Dot Hack Part 1

In the game, you assume the role of a young player named Kite. The story begins when your friend, Orca, falls into a real-life coma after an encounter with an unknown monster within "The World". Kite receives a mysterious item that grants him the ability to "Data Drain," which can corrupt enemies and help him uncover clues about the mysterious force behind the comas.
